The Problem

In vanilla Hytale, upgrading a workbench is a significant investment. But when you break that bench to move it, disaster strikes:

❌ Your bench reverts to Tier 1

BenchSaver fixes this completely. When you break an upgraded workbench:

✅ Tier level is preserved - Pick up a Tier 3 bench, place a Tier 3 bench

✅ Upgrade materials stay inside - No items dropping everywhere

How It Works

BenchSaver is an early plugin that hooks into the game's existing block state system. When you break a bench, the tier level and upgrade data are saved directly to the dropped item. When you place it back down, the game's vanilla restoration system does the rest.

It's like your bench remembers everything about itself!

Installation

Singleplayer

Download BenchSaver Jar File (e.x: BenchSaver-1.0.3.jar)

Navigate to your Hytale installation folder

Create an earlyplugins folder if it doesn't exist (same level as your Mods folder)

Place BenchSaver-1.0.3.jar in the earlyplugins folder

Launch the game - you're all set!

Multiplayer / Dedicated Server

Download BenchSaver Jar File (e.x: BenchSaver-1.0.3.jar)

On your server, create an earlyplugins folder if it doesn't exist (same level as your Mods folder)

Place BenchSaver-1.0.3.jar in the earlyplugins folder

Add the --accept-early-plugins flag to your server startup command

Restart the server

Note: The folder must be named exactly earlyplugins (lowercase, no spaces). This is different from the regular Mods folder used by standard plugins.

FAQ

Q: Will this work with benches I already have?

A: Yes! Any bench you break after installing the mod will preserve its tier.

Q: What about benches in my inventory from before the mod?

A: Those will place as normal (Tier 1). Only benches broken with the mod installed will have their tier saved.

Q: Does this work in multiplayer?

A: Yes, the server needs the mod installed. Players connecting don't need anything special.

Q: Is this cheating?

A: Not at all - you still need to earn the upgrade materials. This just lets you move your investment around without penalty.
