Overview
Bettertale is a Quality of Life (QoL) mod for Hytale, designed to fill in the gaps and polish the rough edges of the base game. Hytale is already a masterpiece even in these early days, but some features feel missing or underdeveloped Bettertale brings them to life!
Starting with Version 0.0, we're overhauling the skies of Zone 1 to deliver breathtaking, real-life-inspired visuals. Say goodbye to flat, gamey skies and hello to immersive sunrises, vibrant sunsets, a glowing moon that doesn't look like a sticker, and multi-layered clouds that drift realistically.
This is just the beginning—future updates will add more QoL gems like enhanced UI, missing mechanics, and fleshed-out content across all zones!
✨ Zone 1-4 Sky Overhaul
Realistic Day-Night Cycle: Smooth gradients for dawn, dusk, noon, and midnight with lifelike color shifts. Stunning Sunrises & Sunsets: Warm oranges, pinks, and purples that paint the horizon—perfect for screenshots! Tamed Sun Brightness: No more blinding midday glare; comfortable viewing all day long. Majestic Moon: Full 8-day lunar cycle with subtle glows, proper scaling, and phases that feel alive (no more "sticker moon"!). Multi-Layered Clouds: 4 dynamic layers with varying speeds, highlights, and details for depth and movement. Enhanced Fog & Atmosphere: Extended fog distances for epic vistas, with hour-specific tints. Starlit Nights: Crisp stars that pop against deep, velvety skies. No dependencies required! Works on vanilla Hytale.
