Copper Crossbow

This mod introduces the Copper Crossbow, a new early-game ranged weapon designed as a lighter and more accessible alternative to the Iron Crossbow.

The Copper Crossbow is crafted using copper bars instead of iron, allowing players to access crossbow gameplay earlier in progression. While it shares the same core mechanics, animations, and abilities as the Iron Crossbow, its stats are intentionally adjusted to reflect the properties of copper as a softer, less durable metal.

Key Differences Compared to the Iron Crossbow

Lower Damage Output The Copper Crossbow deals reduced damage on standard shots, combo attacks, and signature projectiles, making it less powerful than its iron counterpart.

Reduced Ammo Capacity The Copper Crossbow holds 3 bolts instead of 6, encouraging more tactical reload management and positioning during combat.

Lower Durability With reduced maximum durability and slightly higher durability loss, the Copper Crossbow wears out faster, reinforcing its role as an early-game weapon.

Higher Stamina Cost When Guarding Guarding with the Copper Crossbow consumes slightly more stamina, reflecting its less refined construction.

Distinct Visual Identity The weapon uses a custom copper-themed texture, visually distinguishing it from the Iron Crossbow while retaining the same model and animations.

Design Philosophy

The Copper Crossbow is intended to:

Provide an early-game entry point into crossbow combat

Encourage resource progression from copper to iron

Offer meaningful trade-offs between accessibility, power, and durability

Rather than replacing the Iron Crossbow, the Copper Crossbow complements it, fitting naturally into Hytale’s material progression and weapon balance.
