Dragonlings

Add loyal dragon companions to your Hytale world with the Dragonlings mod. These small, bipedal dragons can be tamed as pets and will assist you with various tasks around your base. Each of the four unique variants has its own special abilities, making them valuable allies for farming, crafting, and combat.

Four Unique Variants

Green Dragonling - Found in forest biomes, these nature-focused dragons automatically harvest crops and deposit them into chests when leashed.

Blue Dragonling - Spawns on beaches and shores, these water dragons help maintain your farm by automatically watering crops within their range.

Red Dragonling - Found in the Zone 4 Wastes, these fire dragons boost furnace processing speed by blowing fire at nearby furnaces, doubling their efficiency.

Purple Dragonling - Appears at night across various biomes, these void dragons provide combat assistance by attacking hostile entities you engage in battle.

How to Tame Dragonlings

Taming dragonlings requires patience and the right materials. Each variant requires a specific essence item:

Green Dragonling: Hold a Life Essence and right-click the dragonling

Blue Dragonling: Hold an Ice Essence and right-click the dragonling

Red Dragonling: Hold a Fire Essence and right-click the dragonling

Purple Dragonling: Hold a Void Essence and right-click the dragonling

Taming is chance-based, so you may need multiple attempts. The essence item will be consumed on each attempt. Once tamed, your dragonling will follow you and teleport nearby if you travel too far away.

Crafting the Dragon Whistle

The Dragon Whistle is essential for managing your dragonlings. Craft it at a Workbench in the Tinkering category using:

1x Gold Ingot

1x Wood (any type)

This simple recipe makes the Dragon Whistle accessible early in your playthrough, allowing you to start managing your dragon companions right away.

Using the Dragon Whistle to Leash

Once you have a tamed dragonling, you can leash it to a specific location:

Hold the Dragon Whistle in your hand

Right-click your tamed dragonling to enter leash mode

Right-click any block to set the leash position

Your dragonling will now wander around that location

Leashed dragonlings will perform their variant-specific behaviors automatically. Green dragonlings will harvest crops and deposit them into chests if leashed to a chest block. Blue dragonlings will water nearby farmland. Red dragonlings will boost nearby furnaces. Purple dragonlings will continue to assist in combat even when leashed.

You can unleash a dragonling at any time by right-clicking it again with the Dragon Whistle, returning it to following mode.
