Kami's Magical Items!

Due to the lack of magical items in the base game at the moment, I've decided to add my own! So here are 4 different types of wands, staffs and spellbooks, all created inside the asset editor using base game assets. Each spell cast by these weapons apply status effects to enemies relative to their type. Nature applies poison, fire applies burning, ice applies freezing, and void applies corruption!

Every item here is craftable inside a custom Magical Items Workbench and uses stamina to cast spells. There is also a mana version of this mod you can find in the files, it's marked as beta.

Wands

Wands have a basic cast that will cast a bolt spell according to the element type. You can also block with the wand.

Staffs

Staffs have a primary charge that has two casting modes. Half the charge will create a bolt spell, whereas a full charge will create a ball spell, relative to the element type. You can also block with the staff.

Spellbooks

Spellbooks have two charging modes. The primary (left click) has a longer charge but creates a ball spell, the secondary (right click) has a shorter charge and creates a bolt spell.

Summoners Spellbook (Primary charge summons 5 undead knights)

Scrolls

Part of the necromancy update. Fully charge to summon an undead minion for 60 seconds.

Spells

Every spell has AOE damage that can damage entities and blocks around the impact. These spells apply status effects to enemies relative to it's type.

Status Effects

Poison. Damage over time.

Burning. Damage over time.

Freezing. Slows enemy movement by 50%.

Corruption. Damage over time.

Installation

Download the zip file and move it into the mods folder here: AppData\Roaming\Hytale\UserData\mods. Then enable the mod by right clicking on your world in game, and check the box next to MagicalItems.

V1.0.4 - Status Effects and Balancing!

Making spells more distinct from each other! Spells now apply status effects to enemies! Also some balance changes to make these weapons not as overpowered compared to vanilla items, and recipe changes to make magic more accessible early game.

For those using the mana version of this mod, please check the mana file changelog for mana cost changes.

Spells

Nature spells now poison enemies. Poison deals damage over time.

Fire spells now burn enemies. Burn deals damage over time.

Ice spells now freeze enemies. Freeze slows enemies movement by 50%.

Void spells now corrupt enemies. Corruption deals damage over time.

Reduced bolt and ball spell impact damage.

Ice spells have slightly higher damage due to the lack of damage over time caused by the freeze status effect.

Weapons

Wand cooldown after cast increased slightly.

Staff cooldown after cast decreased slightly.

Crafting

Magical Items Workbench is cheaper to craft, and available at tier 1.

Staffs and Spellbooks don't require gems to craft anymore.

Known Issues

Due to the lack of entity filters in the asset editor, status effects will apply to summoned minions.

When using the spellbook, trying to cast a bolt spell immediately after a ball spell will result in animation/charging misfires.

V1.0.3 - Necromancy Update!

Introducing a custom workbench, a new necromancy spellbook, and summoning scrolls! I've spent today rebuilding the new necromancy book to work better with my mod, along with some new summoning scrolls to compliment this. I was working on status effects for spells but that will have to wait until next update. An Undead Mount Scroll is also in the works, it'll be available as soon as I can figure out why it's not working as intended.

A new workbench in the form of a spellbook to avoid conflicts with any other mod affecting the Arcane Bench.

A new spellbook! Summon 5 Undead Knights to fight by your side for 60 seconds!

3 new summoning scrolls! Knight, Ranger and Hound.

Lowered damage falloff for every spell.

(I forgot to edit the recipe for the new workbench, so for the moment it's the same as the Arcane Bench. This will be changed in the next update)
